Hello again, my Bellas! I hope everyone is enjoying a fantastic week as we experience the beginnings of Autumn!
With it also being back to school season, September is typically a month of great change for many families and we hope everyone is dealing with this transitional phase as best as possible!
Of course, as is always the case with us, we want to inspire and motivate people to become their best selves and a big part of that has to do with our diet and what we put into our bodies.
I was recently discussing this exact topic with my good friend and client, Lisa Ladouceur, and she mentioned to me one of her favourite treats to make at home, her no-bake energy bites!
The no-bake energy bites make for a quick and easy snack that your kids will love – they’ll also be thrilled to help you MAKE them as Lisa’s little ones can attest to! Check out Tyra and Rocco in action!
Now, don’t get me wrong. Kids ADORE the no-bake energy bites but so will you! In fact, these things can be extremely addictive so be sure to keep a close eye on them once they’re made! On the other hand, you can feel good in knowing that reaching for a few of these is a much better option than that bag of chips you’d normally go to.
Not only are these snacks incredibly good for you in terms of their nutritious value, but to say they’re simple to make would be a terrible understatement. One of the best things about this treat is that they’re next to impossible to mess up! You can whip these up in no time without having to even turn on your oven! The ingredients are also quite inexpensive!
• 1 cup (dry) oatmeal
• ⅓ cup coconut flakes
• ½ cup peanut butter
• ⅓ cup ground flaxseed
• ⅓ cup hemp seed
• ½ cup chocolate chips
• ⅓ cup agave
• 1 tbsp. chia seed
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
• Add pumpkin / sunflower seeds for CRUNCH!
Preparation is just as simple and as easy as 1-2-3! As we mentioned earlier (and as it says in the name of the snack itself!), your oven will not be required! You’ll be eating these amazing treats in no time at all and all your friends will be inquiring about your confectionery skills – assuming they’re able to get a bite in on time!
• Mix all ingredients together and let sit in the fridge for approximately a ½ hour
• Roll into small balls about 1 inch wide
• Store in refrigerator inside of an air-tight container
One of the best things about these is that they are multi-purpose! You can enjoy them for a fast and easy breakfast, as a quick snack for when you’re on-the-go, as a protein boost prior to jumping into your workout routine, or even as a tasty dessert to cleanse your palette after a fine meal!
I mean, who wouldn’t love these things!?
